Tuesday, 12/8/15- A Day

Remember: As long as you act like a scientist when we do science, you will be treated like a scientist and conduct investigations. If not, you get to watch the rest of us do science.

Learning Objective:

  • The changes of state that occur with variations in temperature or pressure can be described and predicted using models of matter

Learning Activities:

  1. Do Now– Copy down today’s homework assignment in your daily planner; Get out the lab handout for “Heat, Temperature, and Conduction;” Read the “Question to investigate” on the lab handout
  2. Experiment-Heat, Temperature, & Conduction- Why does the temperature of an object change when it is placed in hot water? Review Part 1; Model procedure for part 2. Remind students of science lab safety regulations and table group member responsibilities. Do the lab and conduct the investigation!
  3. Understanding Connections-Put the statement on the Understanding Connections pages p.28-29 of your science notebook

Homework:

Answer question (#1 under data table) on lab handout
