Tuesday, 3/15/16- A Day

Remember: As long as you act like a scientist when we do science, you will be treated like a scientist and conduct investigations. If not, you get to watch the rest of us do science.

Learning Objective:

To plan an investigation that identifies factors that determine the friction force between two objects

Learning Activities:

  1. Do Now– Copy down today’s homework assignment in your planner; Get out your science notebook (page 75) and your Shipping & Sliding Experiment handouts; Trim and tape your experimental design (procedure) as a flip page to page 75 of your science notebook.
  2. Experiment– Shipping and Sliding (Friction)- Set up graph paper with title & scale, and label each axis with a variable. Review of lab safety expectations & cooperative table group member responsibilities (full class). Continue conducting your experiment and recording your data in the data table (cooperative table groups). Consider what kind of graph is most appropriate and plot appropriate and accurate data that will lead toward a conclusion.
