The musical production of Flooded With Soul brings the audience on a journey through time highlighting the great jazz, funk, R&B, and soul artists of the 60’s, 70’s, and beyond. 70’s Dude (Mr. Schock) is stuck in time and meets Flood student (Aditya). 70’s Dude feels that the Flood student has lost his “soul” both musically and inspirationally. 70’s Dude sets out on a mission to reinvigorate the Flood student’s soul by bringing him on a funkadelic journey that explores the great musical artists of his generation. By the end of the journey, the Flood student finds his “soul” and transforms himself into a 70’s soulful and spiritual musical guru.

Core Ideas:

  • Substances are made from different types of atoms, which combine with one another in various ways. Atoms form molecules that range in size from two to thousands of atoms.
  • Each pure substance has characteristic physical properties (for any bulk quantity under given conditions) that can be used to identify it.

Learning Activities:

  1. Do Now– Get out your science notebook and add to the Table of Contents- “Density of Water- p.60” (Left Side). Head page 60 properly with “Density of Water-Model & Conclusion-2/28/17.” Open your science notebook to page 60. Review the procedure handout and have your lab safety checklist ready.
  2. Period 4-Investigation- Do different amounts of water have the same density? Model procedure. Assign cooperative table group member responsibilities. Review science safety and complete lab safety checklist Before You Begin Questions 1-7. Begin lab!
  3. Investigation– Do different amounts of water have the same density? Complete following procedure to collect data. Answer Analysis Questions 2-7. Tape the Activity handout (procedure & data table) as flip page to p.61. Complete the Lab Safety Checklist “After the Lab is Completed” Questions 1-5.
  4. Model & Conclusion– Do different amounts of water have the same density? Review data as a class. Set up p.60. Model water molecules in the different volumes of water (100mL, 50mL, & 25 mL) and write conclusion regarding why density of any size sample of water is the same. Trim and tape analysis questions as flip page to p.60.
