Where does the energy come from when a cold drink warms up?
- Do Now– Get out your ISN and add to the Table of Contents- “Following the Energy” p.33 (Right Side). Head p.33 properly with “Following the Energy-Investigation-11/14/18.”
- Turn and Talk– What did we figure out from the coin game? What are some ways we think energy might be getting into the cup? Can energy from the cup transfer out into the world this way, too? Do we have evidence from our experiences?
- Investigation– Set up ISN p.33 with the question “How does the temperature of the water in the cup impact the direction of energy flow?” Work together to come up with a procedure to follow to test the question. Record this procedure on ISN p.33. Draw a Data Table on ISN p. 33 to record your temperature measurements.
